IT RECYCLING

What is the WEEE Directive? The european WEEE (Waste of Electrical & Electronic Equipment) Directive has 3 main objectives, they are:

  • The prevention of waste from electronic and electrical equipment
  • The re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes
  • Minimising the risks and impact to the environment associated with the treatment and disposal of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment

There's a lot more detailed information about the legislation on the following websites which can be found below:

IT Recycling

Do you or your business have redundant computers or are you planning a major upgrade and unsure where you can take your redundant computers, peripherals? – give us a call..

Most IT recycling companies charge extortionate rates per PC (£5 - £8 per item is the norm) then you’re charged an extra £20 – £30 for the paperwork!!

Here at Trojan the fees are dependent on a wide range of factors and may well cost you nothing to have your IT waste collected. Depending on specification, age, condition and distance from our storage facility.

Before you choose an IT recycling company please, for your piece of mind always ask them the following questions :

Are they registered with the Environment Agency and can they provide a copy of their Waste Carrier’s Certificate?

All carriers MUST be registered to allow them to legally remove WEEE from your property. Our registration number is EAN/951436 (Certificate here)

How much will they charge for the Waste Transfer Note?

(Paperwork with waste description, waste producers details and contact details for registered waste carrier. This is essential paperwork which ensures you’re legal and compliant (See our paperwork here)

If they can’t supply the paperwork DON’T give them your WEEE equipment – they’re breaking the law and so are YOU!

If you use Trojan Computers:

  1. One of our professional collection’s agent will call at a time suitable to you

  2. Your equipment will be collected and loaded into our van

  3. The required paperwork (Waste Transfer Note) will be signed and a copy left with you

  4. When the equipment arrives at our storage facility it will be graded and all serial numbers / asset numbers will be recorded

  5. An e-mail will be sent within 7 days detailing all serial numbers of the equipment collected which can be used to assist you in the accurate removal from your asset register
